Risk of EVM Being Hacked – Elon Musk

On June 16, 2024, Elon Musk claimed on his Twitter account that it could be hacked. The Election Commission has completely rejected the claims of EVM tampering. On Elon Musk’s statement regarding EVM, former Union Minister Rajiv Chandrashekhar said that this idea can be applicable to America etc. Because there computer platform is used to create and connect to the internet. But the Indian EVM network is completely different from this. There is no connectivity, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi in it.

What is EVM?

Full form of EVM is Electronic Voting Machine. Recently, all the elections in India have been conducted through this machine. This is a machine in which the voter can vote for the party of his choice by pressing a button. But this machine often remains in the news. Because everyone in India sees it through the eyes of HACKING. But according to the Election Commission, the possibility of hacking is very less. Therefore it cannot be hacked.

Rahul Gandhi Called EVM a ‘Black Box’

Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that the electronic voting machine in India is a kind of black box. And he also said that no one is allowed to investigate it. He has expressed serious concern regarding transparency in the election process. He said that when there is no accountability in the institution, democracy remains a sham. And the possibility of scam increases even more.

EVM Cannot Be Unlocked Through Mobile – Election Commission

Mumbai North West Zone Election Officer Vandana Suryavanshi, at a press conference on Sunday evening, refuted the report which claimed that MP Ravindra Vaikar’s brother-in-law had a mobile phone with which EVMs could be unlocked. Suryavanshi said that EVM cannot be hacked. EVM is an independent device in a way. It can never be connected to any other device.

Therefore, OTP does not even come on the mobile to unlock. Suryavanshi also said that the notice has been issued for spreading misinformation about electronic voting machines and creating doubt in the election system.

SP chief Akhilesh Yadav himself said that if technology becomes the cause of problems then its use should be stopped.

Aditya Thackeray of Shiv Sena UBT said – It is surprising that the Commission has refused to share the footage of the counting centre. It seems he is trying to avoid another incident like Chandigarh.
